Set in the exclusive private estate of Castello di Reschio, ‘the house of sisters’, was once a nunnery. Leaving its pious roots behind, the property has been expertly restored to retain its charm and history.

Centre stage, praise must be given to the breath-taking three-edged infinity pool stretching into the hills beyond, framed like a postcard by the red brick terrace complete with comfortable cushioned lounge area. Wafts of lavender create an aura of calm as you swim back and forth, and the wondrous aromas seep into the house through the floor to ceiling glass doors which slide into the walls, merging the pool lounge and courtyard with the welcoming dinging room.

Dining is an event at Villa Le Suore, and with a grand double height kitchen with rose gold and copper accents, only the beautiful al fresco terrace with roaring pizza oven could pull you away. That, or the dome shaped wine cellar that is hidden under the kitchen, a glimpse of which can be sneaked through the ocular window of the kitchen floor. After dinner, budding musicians can tinkle the ivories on the grand piano, with the musical notes making the perfect accompaniment to a dessert wine on one of the several terraces and loggias. Or to stretch out after an Italian feast, take a stroll through the gardens brimming with rosemary, thyme, lavender and sage.

Spread across the main house and the two guest houses, each of the bedrooms is air-conditioned, but on cooler evenings your toes will be grateful for the under-floor heating that stretches across the whole house. Wandering through rooms, you’ll find contemporary statement pieces, from four poster beds to industrial-style dressing areas and bathrooms with free-standing tubs and taps. No attention to detail has been forgotten, with contemporary metallic features dotted throughout.

Whether you’re floating in the swimming pool, lost in a page turner infront of the fire or reclining at the pool lounge, it’s easy to find a little peace here. But for those who like their holidays a little more active, there is plenty to keep you busy, from clay pigeon shooting to tennis on your court and more – not forgetting the historic estate, olive groves and forests to wander in and explore.
