Villa della Fonte

This beautiful villa has been recently renovated according to the classical standards of
Tuscan farmhouses with terracotta bricks, stones and wooden beams and a hectare-large
garden where you can walk along little paths edged with perfumed Mediterranean bushes.
Located at the point where the provinces of Pisa, Siena and Florence meet it is the perfect
place for families or groups of friends who want to spend relaxing holidays in the peaceful
and quiet Tuscan countryside, and it also allows you to visit important cultural towns and
cities like Volterra, San Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa, Siena and Florence, that are at short
driving distance away.
The villa has been superbly rebuilt on the ruins of an ancient Medieval fortress that might
have existed in this area since Etruscan times (2000 b.C.) and whose remains can still be
admired in the garden.
The ground floor houses a wide living room/dining room with a large fireplace and a high
ceiling with wooden beams, a kitchen furnished in the Italian 1950s style, yet very efficient
and modern, with an induction hob and oven, a dishwasher and a fridge, two bedrooms
with double beds, one of which can be separated into two single beds, and two bathrooms,
one of which is en suite. The bathrooms have either a shower or a bath. There is also a
laundry room.
The Tuscan-style furniture and the use of travertine marble for the bathrooms give the villa
a pleasant rustic character. Most of the rooms on the ground floor have large French doors
that open onto the outdoor spaces, tiled with terracotta.
An inside staircase takes you from the living room to the first floor, a part of which is open
like a loft where there are two double sofa beds. This is also an entrance via the outside
staircase, from which a balcony surrounds almost half of the villa. The first floor houses
also a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with shower. The French door of the
bedroom opens onto the balcony with a wonderful view over the hills.
The villa can host maximum ten guests.
Thanks to the French doors on the ground floor you will be able to enjoy the outdoor space
at its best: shaded areas with tables, chairs and sofas, a stone barbecue and a firewood
oven will allow you to spend fantastic, relaxing times while admiring the wonderful
countryside. The swimming pool (12 metres x 6 metres) has a large solarium equipped
with sunbeds and sun umbrellas. It is made from green marble and it seems like an
emerald set into the walls of the ruins of the ancient fortress, where you can also walk. A
small area of the garden has been devoted to a quaint Renaissance-style garden with a
statue of saint Francis in the middle of it.
Villa della Fonte is equipped with underfloor heating and air conditioning system, satellite TV, wifi Internet connection, a heliport and a pond to reuse rainwater to water the garden in the summer.
It is a couple of kilometres from Cedri, a tiny hamlet in the municipality of Peccioli. Cedri
once had an important castle that belonged to noble families from Pisa and Florence.
Cedri's area was very desirable in Medieval and Renaissance times because of its land's
excellent produce: perfumed and tasty olive oil, great wines, vegetables, wheat and game.
And it is still nowadays ! Not far from the villa is the Castelfalfi Golf Club.
Although the Villa is situated in the open countryside there are several restaurants is
nearby which you could savor traditional Tuscan cuisine. More shops, cafés, a bank, a
post office, a chemist and a doctor are a few km away and at Peccioli there is a supermarket and interesting shops.
